To be loved by God: Knowing God's love for us must come first. We love because He first loved us. When we grow in our understanding of how loved we are it changes everything!
To love Jesus: When we know God's unconditional love it is only natural to love Him in return. In loving him we want to be with Him, talk with Him, & become like Him. We recognize everything else pales in comparison.
To Live like Jesus: our lives are marked by the fruit of the spirit. We are people of peace & thankfulness in a stress-filled world.
and Love our neighbors like Jesus does: creating a space where all are welcome without judgement and loved for who they are. We celebrate one another, share each other’s grief, and help meet each other’s needs.
We genuinely care about one another. We love hearing about what makes you you. We love celebrating the good parts of your story, and we mourn with you in the not so good parts. Shame is a barrier that keeps people from true connection. In Christ there is no shame. We want you to feel free to share all of who you are without feeling judged. You are worthy to be loved exactly as you are.
We believe there is one big story that started when God created the world. He loved being face to face with his people, but sin separated them. God had a plan from the beginning to bring reconciliation. He sent Jesus who never sinned to take the punishment for our sins. The good news is relationship with God and the promise of heaven one day. But there is so much more to the story than that.
As we gather together we share God’s story and discuss it together. We will not preach at you. We can all hear from God through his story and share what he is speaking to us to encourage one another.
There are disciplines required to become healthy in every area of life. To be physically healthy we need to drink water, exercise, etc... Likewise for emotional and spiritual health we can find ways to grow and mature into the best version of ourselves. Part of the process is self awareness to even know in what areas we need to grow and what specific habits work best for each person.
We believe there is nothing more important than growing close to God. When we spend time with him, worship, and learn about him we grow in praise and thanksgiving and build healthy perspective on life- aka less time thinking of ourselves, more time thinking of God and others.
Check the resources tab for suggestions on rhythms that will help you spend time with God and other practices that promote spiritual and emotional health.
We all have equal value in God’s kingdom no matter our age, race, culture, income, gender... God can speak to and through each one of us. God gives us a beautiful picture of every tongue, tribe, and nation coming together in heaven. When we come together on earth we get a little glimpse of that.
Instead of sermons we have a conversation about the scripture together to hear from God- kids included.
We enjoy being together laughing, working, serving. We become a family that looks out for each other. When one of us needs help there is no hesitation to reach out.
Beliefs
We believe all the historic creeds & confessions the Church has always believed. We are both orthodox & pentecostal. We are Foursquare. To see a more articulate expression of our doctrine, see here.
History
Our movement sprung up in the early 1920's in Los Angeles. God used our founder, Aimee Semple McPherson, to proclaim hope in Jesus Christ to the lost, while feeding them. You can see more about our history here.
Practice
We observe many of the same practices the Christian church has always participated in. We believe this is because Jesus has told us to do so. Our hope is that within a short time, you will be lead to follow Jesus in every area of your life.
